Matt and Monica contacted me to photograph their wedding in Vegas over St. Patrick's Day weekend.  Although I don't shoot weddings, they felt more comfortable hiring someone they knew as opposed to someone they've never met out in Vegas.  Monica is very familiar with a lot of the work I've done for PAWS Chicago as she is the Animal Care Manager there.  She liked the event photography I've done for them and pointed out that their wedding in Vegas would be a similar type of shoot.  I happily accepted and we decided to do an engagement session in the city as they both love Chicago.

We started out at Lincoln Park Zoo, which has some exceptional views of the skyline.

They recently added this honeycomb structure near the South Pond, which turned out to be a fantastic place to take some photos!

We had a lot of fun and I think this photo really shows it :)

We then headed down to the Museum Campus for a slightly different view of the city.

Right around the corner is Soldier Field, so we decided to stop for a couple of photo ops there as well.

Even though it was freezing cold, they toughed it out to have a little snowball fight!  The snow wasn't packing well so it basically turned into a snow dust fight.  This was one of my favorites.

Monica found this really cool garden area by the Field Museum as we walked around, and we stopped for a brief shot on one of the benches there.

Did I mention it was a bone chilling night??  Well, you could never guess it by looking at this next set of photos on the Franklin Street bridge.  Matt and Monica are one tough couple!

As we headed back home, I somehow convinced them to leave the warm car for one last series of shots at North Avenue Beach, which provides one of my favorite views of the city.  I think it was worth braving the cold one last time for this one, don't you think?

I'd like to thank Matt and Monica for inviting me to photograph their special day and for being such troopers during our session out in the cold.  I think it will make taking photos in the warm weather of Las Vegas a piece of cake!  I would also like to thank my very patient wife, Shannon, for enduring the cold with us and assisting me with the flash equipment we needed for some of these photos.

Next stop...Las Vegas!!

Justin Ketchem - Great work, Sebastian! I'm not surprised, but you made the best of a cold situation. Luckily, you had a great couple to work with. ...consider weddings!
Mary Ellen - Once again Sebastian, amazing job!! They are really smart folks for asking you to trail them to sin city. You captured so much of our fabulous city, these are great/memorable photos that tell a story of the couple in the city they love. What a treasure.
