This weeks 52 HeARTs challenge is "Loneliness," which was easy for me as I had the perfect photo in mind.  Not too long ago, I had the chance to photograph an amazing event called The Big Pull.  It was a huge rescue event in honor of one of our recently lost friends which resulted in 18 animals being saved from kill shelters.  It was an eye opening experience for me as I normally work with a no kill shelter.  Visiting the kill shelters that day was heartbreaking.  I was lucky to have my face stuck up against the camera the whole time which kept my mind busy and my eyes from welling up.  Needless to say, I saw A LOT of Loneliness there.  Although this photo fits the assignment well, it also signifies a sign of hope because this is one of the dogs that was saved.

Angela - Very sorry to read of the loss of your friend. It must have been a very emotional event to organise in their memory.

Gorgeous dog, really glad to read he/she was one of the lucky ones. I haven't photographed at a kill shelter either, I'm blessed with my local rescue here in the UK.

Trina Bauer - Glad to hear something good came out of this rescue. I too have never worked in a kill shelter, so I can't imagine how hard that was. Such a sad image, but i hope this pup finds his/her forever home soon.
