I've known Sarah for a couple years now through PAWS Chicago.  She is one of the amazing people that works for the organization as the public relations contact.  We've worked together on many occasions and I've met her dog Emma several times when visiting her office.  She was the lucky winner of my auction item for a photo shoot at the Animal Magnetism event.  So we decided to get together one weekend for a fun-filled shoot!

One of the first things I noticed when I got to her place was this wonderful sign she had up on the wall.  Very cool!

We decided to take Emma for a walk to a viaduct near her place in Roscoe Village.  There is some wonderful artwork on both sides of the viaduct, which made for some great photos!

Sarah, being the adventurous person she is, had a terrific idea for a shot and did some skillful climbing to get into position.  I had my work cut out for me as well because while she posed for the shot, I was holding Emma who was a bit upset that her Mom had abandoned her with me.  I had to wrap Emma's leash over my shoulder to keep her from wiggling around too much while I held my camera with one hand, trying to keep it steady enough to get this shot.  Luckily, it all worked out and this is what we got - pretty sweet if you ask me!

I'm a big fan of the "walking shot," especially when there are some nice trees and green grass to make things really pop.  It's a nice way to document a day in the life of a dog owner :)

Sarah also needed some headshots, so we took the opportunity to stop and grab one along the route of our walk.

Naturally, Emma requested some headshots of her own.

I have to admit, Sarah made this whole session very easy with a good eye for some fun places to stop along the way for a photo op.

Once we got back home, we stopped for a shot on the staircase.

Another brilliant idea from Sarah to get a shoe shot, which turned out to be one of my overall favorites from the session!!

Next, we headed inside to set up the studio for a more formal approach.  I took care of the lighting and backdrop while Sarah turned on some tunes.  She has an awesome vinyl collection, so we rocked out to some Minor Threat for the rest of these - how cool is that?!

Once again, not to be outdone, Emma wanted some headshots too!!

What a fantastic time!  As always, a big THANK YOU to Sarah and Emma for being such troopers during the shoot.  Inside and out, we really created some fantastic images together!
