Last week, I was invited by my friends at Canine Crews to photograph them as they jumped into Lake Michigan to help raise money for ALIVE Rescue.  One would think that not many people would be interested in doing this, but when I showed up, the parking lot at North Avenue Beach was nearly full and brimming with dog lovers waiting to plunge themselves into the frigid depths of Lake Michigan!  And it wasn't just ALIVE Rescue, Project Rescue Chicago was also in attendance and raising funds for their shelter as well.  They final tally was over 200 people and close to 90 who braved the cold in support of homeless animals. Together, they raised over $40,000 to help save animals in need.

A lot of people dressed up for the occasion!

And there were the minimalists...

Once everyone was ready, it was all in!!

It was a quick dip then time to dry off and warm up.

Afterwards, everyone headed to Old Town Ale House for some celebratory drinks!

Kristen (far left) from ALIVE Rescue and Bridgid (far right) from Project Rescue Chicago handed out awards.

Then it was back to celebrating.

Congratulations to Kristen and Bridgid for organizing such an awesome event that raised over $40,000 for homeless dogs in Chicago - you two rock!!!
